June 2014 President’s Corner

MeHoly Moses, the summer has kicked in with a vengeance.  I’m sitting in my office and it’s 78 degrees (yup, inside my office in the air conditioning).  What’s a girl to do?   Any who, thought of beads and beading will keep me cool (I hope)!

I don’t know about you guys, but I loved our May project.  Sometimes keeping it simple is the way to go!  For me, any time I can leave the meeting with a finished project, I’m happy.  Big thanks to Nora Pero for the project and the “ancient Chinese secret” material that was critical to the project’s success.

If you weren’t at the meeting, it was decided that the board would hire a Bazaar Coordinator to help plan and facilitate the 2014 Bead Bazaar.  Her name is Maryanne Walker, the Vice President of the San Antonio Bead Society.  The board decided not to focus on classes this year, but we’d love to hear your thoughts and opinions on whether or not we should have classes at the Bazaar this year or not.  Please respond to austinbeadsociety@yahoo.com with your thoughts and opinions.

Also, there’s still time to participate in the past President’s Challenge:

February:  Design your own name tag                                May:  the Double Spiral Stitch

Drum roll pleeeaaaase:  The June President’s Challenge is the RUSSIAN SPIRAL STITCH.  These challenges are not only fun, but helps us to try  and learn new stitches…more to pull out of our tool kits.

Happy Beading!
