Introduction to Kumihimo – Beaded Bracelet

Taught by Karen Strain

Kumihimo is a Japanese form of braid-making.  It is a popular craft for jewelry makers and fiber artists. The ancient braid is easy to learn with modern tools that make the projects very portable.

Materials to bring to complete the project:

  • Round Kumihimo Disk
  • C-lon cord
  • 8 thread bobbins – I prefer the medium size bobbins
  • Size 6 or size 8 seed beads
  • 6” of 22 or 24 – gauge wire
  • 2 cones or bell-shaped bead caps
  • Toggle Clasp
  • Round nose pliers
  • Chain nose pliers
  • Bead mat
  • FireLine/WildFire/Power Pro
  • Glue
