Project taught by Michele Chesak

There are a lot of options when using leather to make jewelry. This project will not require any expertise other than working with findings. The instructions provided are for making simple earrings; however, feel free to experiment with different styles.  Michele will bring some examples of other leather items to give you ideas.

Items to bring to the meeting to complete the project:

You will need to bring:

4 large jump rings (approx. 10mm),

2 earring wires,

needle nose pliers,

a sharp cutting tool (such as a utility knife or scissors),

a ruler,

a pen (or white leather marking pen)

and something to cut on, if you are not using scissors.

The other items for the project will be provided.  But, if you have them, go ahead and bring them. We will be using a light but firm leather (such as an upholstery leather) and a lighter one (such as suede).

If you have an old leather item that is sentimental but not usable anymore, bring it and we’ll make something with it. It must be leather so it won’t fray at the edges.

We will also be using rivets, a rivet setter and a rotating hole punch.

Please come join the fun !

Feel free to visit a monthly meeting before actually joining to see what we’re all about.
