ABS Meeting: July 27, 2020 – Brick Stitch Shoulder Duster Earrings

6:30-8:30 pm   via Zoom !     Instructor: Nora Pero

These earrings seem to be really on-trend right now.  They’re all over Pinterest!  We’ll be doing ladder stitch, brick stitch and fringe. And learning how to design some on our own. Here are 2 examples for inspiration only:

Nora has a little bit of homework to be done prior to the meeting, so please click just below to find out the homework, how to join the Zoom meeting on the 27th, and materials needed

Brick Stitch Shoulder Duster Earrings

Instructor:  Nora Pero

Materials needed:

Size 11 seed beads or delica beads

Thread of choice ( for the fringe –  One-G thread or Nymo thread is recommended for the best drape )

Beading needle

Earring findings and 2 jump rings

The earring is made in two parts: the top portion, which is done in brick stitch and 1 row of ladder stitch, and the bottom portion, which is fringed.

For our Zoom class on July 27, I have a little homework for you:

-practice the ladder stitch using size 11 beads. I would recommend any color but black for your practice piece.  (Instructions have been sent to current members. If you are not a member, you can attend one meeting to do the project and to see what we’re about before you join – just email austinbeadsociety@gmail.com  before the meeting.)

-Have a ladder stitch piece ready to work with that is 9 beads long. (Do not trim your thread.)

-If you have questions or get stuck, feel free to email me at iamcr8ve@yahoo.com

-In class, we will work a practice piece of brick stitch to make the triangle using only one color for the beading.  Once you can do the brick stitch triangle, you are ready to venture out with your own designs. I will discuss making your own patterns and will have examples to show.

-we will be sending out an email before the 27th to current members with instructions on how to join the Zoom meeting – it’s not hard !
